Arthur Abel was born in 1897, the son of a local farmer William Poundall Abel and his wife Dorothy. On the 5th September 1897 he was baptised in All Saints Church in Mackworth. In 1901 the family were living at The Vicarage, Markeaton.
No accurate record of his war service is currently available, but on his return from the war he married Francis Roome in 1924 in All Saints Church.
He died on the 25th March 1950 and is buried in the churchyard where he married.
